All I want to do is rock a stunning red lip during the holiday season. I mean…who doesn’t? A red lip makes me feel elegant, sexy, and so put together. It’s the perfect staple for the holiday season. So of course, I created an entire eyeshadow look revolved around that lol. As part of the Holiday 1, 2, 3 Series, I wanted to provide you with a makeup look that you can rock for any occasion whether it’s Casual, Festive, Cocktail, etc. This look is so versatile!
We are going to keep it so so simple today, using only 1 palette to achieve this look! We will be working with the beautiful fall colors in the Morphe 350 Matte palette. Because this palette doesn’t have names associated with each color, I decided to name them myself hunny! I hope this makes things easier to follow. Enjoy!
1: Start with a Good Base
I have some beautiful dark chocolate skin and sometimes, as my fellow darker skin Queens know, its hard for me to find colors that really pop on my skin. A good eye shadow base is a major major key in resolving that issue. Today, I am starting this look of right with my Mac Paint Pot in the color Painterly. I place the base all over the lid and blend it upwards (a tad bit above the crease area).
2: Transition Shade
Now it’s time to dip into this Morphe Palette. The secret to getting that perfect blend is starting off with a great transition shade. I love using the color D3, a dark brown shade right at the center of the palette, it matches my skin tone so so well, and the subsequently added colors blend beautifully with it. I pop this in right above the crease.
3: Crease Color
Let’s add our pop of color. To match the lippie, I’m going to add some red, F5, to the crease. Blend sis, blend! We’re going for a nice gradient effect. Use as much as you need to that red pop!
4: Lid Color
For the lid, we’re of course going with a winter white…well almost white, more like an ivory color. We’re using the color A1, which I think fits me way more than adding a stark white color to my lid and still gives me that same winter festive feel. I’m going to take some of my Skindinavia Finishing spray on an eyeshadow brush before picking up that color, I want to make sure it’s vibrant, and then I’m going to tap that over the lip, about ¾ of the way, right before the outer corner. After placing that color down, I will go back to that crease color and make sure to blend the dividing lines of those 2 colors together.
5: Define that Outer Corner
Step 5 is to define the outer corner of the eye, this is just and easy way to add some more dimension to the look.
For this step, we’re going to take a pencil brush and pick up the color A5, a deep dark brown shade, and place that on the outer V of the eye. Blend that out.
6: Finish The Eyes
To finish up this eye look, we are going to add a bit of flair to the inner corner. I’m giving you an eyeshadow look for today (stay tuned for my full face routine) but for my face highlight I used my beloved Fenty Beauty Killawatt Highlighter in the colors, Ginger Binge and Moscow Mule. I took those same 2 colors and popped them into my tear ducts to really make this look stand out. That’s it for the eyes!
7: The Finale: The Classic Rep Lip
Now it’s time to top off this look with greatness lol (can you tell it’s my favorite part lol). I first line my lips with every brown girls most coveted lip liner, Chestnut by Mac. Then, keeping it in the Riri makeup family, I use one of my absolute favorite matte lippies by Mac period, Ruby Woo. I’m sure this is a color many of you have (if not you MUST check it out, your missing out boo) and it will forever be a staple of mine. I just love how this lipstick really ties the entire look together!
That’s it! Go out and stunt on them this holiday season with this versatile look! Be sure to check out the other posts in the Holiday 1, 2, 3 Series. Tell me all about your go to makeup look for the holiday season, what do you like to rock?
Thanks for reading love!
